SOC Platform Architect - IP Power
QualcommJob Title
SOC Platform Architect - IP Power
Role Summary
Work on infrastructure IP for Qualcomm SoCs focusing on power estimation, analysis, and architecture-level optimizations for IP such as interconnect (NoC), system cache, memory controllers and system MMU.
Collaborate with hardware designers and domain leads to identify power-related issues, propose fixes, and drive a robust infrastructure deployment plan across the silicon design flow.
Experience Level
Senior. Experience expectations vary by degree level; see Education Requirements for specific years-of-experience guidance.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include technical leadership on power for infrastructure IP and cross-functional coordination.
- Collect and validate power estimation data for SoC infrastructure IPs.
- Analyze power data to identify architectural and micro-architectural issues and limitations.
- Propose and evaluate fixes or optimizations to improve power, performance, and area.
- Coordinate with hardware designers, domain leads, and system teams to define deployment plans that meet product requirements.
- Assess HW–SW feature trade-offs and contribute to end-to-end silicon design decisions.
- Develop automation/scripts to support power-estimation and analysis flows.
- Support post-silicon validation and debug activities as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in the role.
- Strong background in ASIC design and computer architecture.
- Experience with system power architecture/design and exposure to power-estimation flows.
- Practical knowledge of SoC infrastructure IP (NoC, SMMU, caches) and related HW architecture.
- Familiarity with end-to-end ASIC design flows and silicon development lifecycle.
- Exposure to interconnect protocols and system-level interfaces.
- Programming or scripting ability to automate analysis and estimation flows.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across disciplines.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with Quality of Service, clocks, power management, security, and debug architectures.
- Knowledge of industry-standard interconnect and I/O device protocols.
- Understanding of HW–SW interfaces and firmware.
- Experience with post-silicon flows and debugging.
Education Requirements
Degrees in Science, Engineering, or a related field are specified in the source: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD. The posting lists experience expectations that vary by degree (examples in source): Bachelor's-level applicants are referenced with multi-year experience ranges up to 7+ years; Master's- and PhD-level applicants may have lower year thresholds. Equivalent technical experience in related fields is accepted as indicated by the phrase "related field."
