Job Title

SOC Platform Architect

Role Summary

Design and define scalable SoC platform architectures across Qualcomm product lines, focusing on areas such as Network-on-Chip, System MMU, interrupts, debug, power management, and security. Work with cross-functional hardware, software, systems and product teams to produce architecture specifications and guide implementation.

Experience Level

Level: Senior. Candidates typically have 8+ years of systems/SoC engineering experience; many roles expect 15+ years of SoC/IP architecture or micro-architecture/front-end design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Create highly scalable SoC architectures (NoC/interconnect, memory systems, interrupts, debug, power, security).
  • Translate product requirements into architectural solutions and perform trade-off analysis.
  • Collaborate with architects, technical leads, hardware and software engineers to integrate solutions into overall SoC designs.
  • Produce detailed architectural specifications and work with design teams during implementation.
  • Develop and use analysis and modeling tools (simulators, profilers) to validate performance, power, and functional behavior.

Requirements

Must-have and preferred technical qualifications.

  • Extensive SoC/IP architecture or micro-architecture experience; demonstrated leadership on SoC or large-IP designs.
  • Strong foundation in silicon design principles and ability to perform quantitative trade-off analysis across system levels.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools and methodologies (functional and performance simulators, profilers).
  • Programming for modeling and automation (object-oriented C++ and Python preferred) and familiarity with development best practices (reviews, unit tests, version control).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to document proposals and interact across distributed, multi-discipline teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect abstraction levels from system-design and OS to micro-architecture and silicon implementation.
  • Preferred: experience areas such as heterogeneous compute, multi-die, cache/memory hierarchies, coherency, I/O, security, power/resource management, system-level debug, and AI/ML acceleration.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is required; Master’s degree or PhD is highly desired. The posting specifies degree-plus-experience alternatives (e.g., Bachelor's + 8+ years, Master's + 7+ years, PhD + 6+ years) and related-field language. Equivalent practical experience in systems/SoC engineering may be considered where noted.
