SOC Physical Design Lead
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
SOC Physical Design Lead
Role Summary
Lead the planning, implementation, and verification of physical design for processing subsystem IP to achieve signoff criteria for tapeout. Work within the SoC physical design team and coordinate with cross-site engineering teams.
Contribute to high-performance processor implementations across advanced process nodes.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. Preferred 12+ years of experience in physical implementation, SoC or processor design.
Responsibilities
Accountable for delivering physical implementation and verification for subsystem IP and top-level integration toward tapeout signoff.
- Plan and execute block-level and top-level physical implementation flows.
- Perform physical verification and signoff activities to meet tapeout criteria.
- Work with EDA tools to implement timing, congestion, and power closure.
- Integrate designs for lower-node processes (5nm and below) and address node-specific challenges.
- Collaborate across teams and time zones with architects, RTL designers, verification, and manufacturing engineers.
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation for implementation flows.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership within the physical design team.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; list below separates core requirements from advantageous skills.
- Must-have: Extensive hands-on experience with block- and top-level physical implementation for complex digital designs.
- Must-have: Practical experience on lower-node technologies (5nm or below).
- Must-have: Proficiency with EDA implementation and signoff tools such as Innovus, Fusion Compiler / IC Compiler II, PrimeTime.
- Must-have: Scripting experience in TCL and Python for automation of flows.
- Must-have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to work across distributed teams.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with low-power or processor-specific design techniques.
- Nice-to-have: Prior leadership or formal mentorship experience.
