SoC Physical Design Engineer

Role Summary

Work on SoC physical implementation within the SOC Engineering / Hardware team based in Munich. Responsible for delivering physical design tasks across the implementation flow to produce tapeout-ready silicon.

This is an onsite engineering role collaborating with RTL, verification, timing, and backend teams to meet performance, area, and power targets.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

• Implement SoC/ASIC physical design tasks: floorplanning, placement, clock-tree synthesis, routing, and optimization.
• Perform static timing analysis, timing closure, and timing optimization to meet timing goals.
• Develop and maintain scripts and automated flows for placement, routing, signoff, and DFT integration.
• Collaborate with RTL designers, verification, timing, and backend teams to resolve integration issues and implement ECOs.
• Support rule checks (DRC/LVS), power analysis, and tapeout preparation activities.

Requirements

Key requirements (must-have and nice-to-have):

• Must-have: Practical experience in SoC/ASIC physical design and P&R flows; hands-on timing closure experience; scripting skills (Tcl, Python, or Perl); ability to work with digital RTL and cross-functional teams.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with commercial EDA physical and timing tools, low-power and multi-voltage design techniques, and advanced process nodes.
