SoC Physical Design Clocking Engineer

Role Summary

The engineer will join the SoC Clocking team to define and implement clock architecture, distribution, and sign‑off for next‑generation server SoC designs. The role involves product pathfinding, driving clock infrastructure and collaborating with platform, package, IP and SoC design teams.

Work includes clock distribution design, clock IP (PLL/DLL) usage, jitter analysis, and creating scalable flows to optimize performance and power.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting specifies at least 10+ years of relevant SoC clock architecture and implementation experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Define and drive SoC clock architecture and distribution strategies.
• Implement and sign off clock networks across IPs and full SoCs.
• Develop clocking methodologies, guidelines and scalable flows for performance and power optimization.
• Perform clock jitter analysis and simulation; work with SPICE and other jitter tools.
• Integrate clocking IPs (PLL, DLL) and validate system‑level clocking behavior.
• Collaborate with platform, package, IP and SoC physical design and timing teams.
• Automate flows and scripts to support clock implementation and sign‑off.

Requirements

• Must have 10+ years experience in SoC clock architecture, clock distribution and clock implementation.
• Hands‑on experience with clocking IPs (PLL/DLL) and clock network implementation.
• Experience with SPICE and clock jitter simulation and analysis.
• Familiarity with Synopsys and Cadence APR/clock implementation tools.
• Proficient scripting skills (Tcl, Perl, Python).
• Good understanding of system‑level clocking and physical design; SoC timing analysis is helpful.
• Strong communication skills for working with global cross‑functional teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's (B.Tech) or Master's (M.Tech) in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field as specified in the posting.
