SoC Machine Learning Design Engineer
Role Summary
Work on the SoC design machine learning team to develop machine learning and generative AI solutions that improve efficiency, quality, and speed across RTL design, verification, and power/performance/area workflows. Collaborate with cross-functional SoC teams and Apple's AIML organization to integrate domain-specific ML tools into chip-design flows.

Senior - requires 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities include:
- Design and implement ML and generative AI models to optimize RTL design, verification, and PPA workflows.
- Develop and maintain ML pipelines, evaluation frameworks, and testing suites for SoC-design use cases.
- Collaborate with hardware, verification, and AIML teams to define requirements and integrate solutions into the design flow.
- Analyze data and metrics to measure impact and iterate on models for efficiency and quality improvements.
- Monitor research in ML and chip design and apply new methods to production workflows.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred competencies (degree requirements are listed under Education Requirements):
- Must have: 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Must have: Practical experience with modern machine learning and generative AI methods.
- Must have: Experience with major deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or MLX).
- Must have: Experience with hardware description languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog, VHDL).
- Must have: Strong mathematics background and understanding of algorithms and data structures.
- Nice to have: Experience with RAG systems (embeddings, retrieval strategies, context optimization), generative AI pipeline development, AI evaluation and human-evaluation frameworks, AI coding assistants, and AI infrastructure protocols such as MCP.
- Nice to have: Experience with deep neural networks and reinforcement learning.
- Nice to have: Experience with chip design and verification front-end flows (UVM testbenches, static timing analysis, CDC/RDC).
- Must have: Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree plus 10 years of relevant industry experience. Master's or PhD with relevant publications preferred but not required.
