Job Title

SoC Logic Design Engineer

Role Summary

The SoC Logic Design Engineer develops RTL-based logic blocks and integrates IP into full-chip System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. The role works with architects, IP providers, verification, and physical design teams to meet power, performance, area, and timing targets for production-ready SoCs.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience guidance: Bachelor's +4 years, Master's +3 years, or PhD +6 months (see Education Requirements for details).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include implementing, integrating, and validating SoC logic and ensuring design quality and handoff readiness.

  • Write and maintain high-quality RTL (Register Transfer Level) and run simulations for SoC blocks.
  • Collaborate with architects to define and implement microarchitecture features.
  • Integrate and validate IP blocks and subsystems at the SoC level.
  • Optimize designs to meet power, performance, area, and timing objectives and enable production readiness.
  • Investigate and resolve RTL verification failures and review verification plans.
  • Apply secure development practices to mitigate security risks in design.
  • Coordinate with IP providers and verification teams to drive quality assurance and IP-SoC handoffs.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items are listed separately.

  • Proven RTL development experience and strong SystemVerilog skills.
  • Experience in SoC logic integration and microarchitecture definition.
  • Experience with logic design and functional simulation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with SoC design flows, including timing and power convergence and physical implementation concerns.
  • Ability to analyze RTL test failures and drive corrective actions.
  • Nice-to-have: scripting (Python, Perl), front-end tools (Lint, CDC), synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), validation development, pre-silicon testing, DFT/DFD, industry-standard IPs, and UVM-based verification.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum experience guidance provided by the employer: Bachelor's degree +4 years relevant experience, Master's degree +3 years, or PhD +6 months.
