Job Title
SoC Logic Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and integrate RTL-level logic for SoC and discrete component designs, focusing on feature correctness, performance, power, area, and timing convergence. Work within a cross-functional SoC team to integrate IP blocks and drive quality assurance through IP-to-SoC handoff.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 10+ years of experience in IC/SoC design and microarchitecture.
Responsibilities
Core technical and integration responsibilities include:
- Develop RTL (register-transfer level) logic and perform simulation for SoC blocks and full-chip designs.
- Integrate IP blocks and subsystems into SoC and perform system-level validation.
- Contribute to block architecture and microarchitecture definition.
- Perform quality checks across RTL, timing, and power convergence; iterate to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals.
- Review verification plans, diagnose failing RTL tests, and implement corrective changes.
- Apply secure development practices to address identified security threat models and design security objectives.
- Coordinate with IP providers to integrate and validate IPs at the SoC level and ensure smooth IP-SoC handoff (IPSoC).
- Lead Xeon SoC integration activities in the FE domain.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; behavioral expectations follow.
- 10+ years of practical experience in IC/SoC design and microarchitecture (listed here as required).
- Experience across the full logic development lifecycle from high-level specification through tape-out and production.
- Expertise in one or more domains: x86 server microarchitecture, reset and clocking, power management, DFX (scan, JTAG, VISA, integration).
- Proven ability to write and optimize RTL to meet PPA and timing targets.
- Strong debugging skills for RTL and verification failures; experience with verification plan review and defect resolution.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
- Able to influence in a matrixed organization and operate effectively where roles are ambiguous across multiple teams and IP/SOC boundaries.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (BSEE/CE) minimum; Master’s degree preferred (MS). No other certifications were specified.
