Job Title

SoC Logic Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design RTL and integrate IP blocks and subsystems into system-on-chip (SoC) or discrete component designs. Work with architects, verification, and physical design teams to meet power, performance, area, timing, and security goals for data-center SoCs.

Role sits in Intel's Data Center Group and focuses on RTL coding, logic optimization, verification support, and IP/SoC integration for production-quality chips.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience guidance: approximately 5–6+ years of relevant industry experience (e.g., Master's +5 years or Bachelor's +6 years as listed in the posting).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for this role include development, verification support, and implementation handoff.

  • Write and optimize RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) to meet functional, area, power, and timing targets.
  • Perform and address quality checks such as lint, CDC, and low-power verification.
  • Define and document micro-architectural specifications for assigned blocks.
  • Collaborate with architects to understand requirements and with verification teams to debug in simulation.
  • Integrate and validate IP at the SoC level and work with IP providers to resolve issues.
  • Work with physical design teams to ensure designs are implementable and meet timing/power convergence goals.
  • Follow secure development practices to address threat models and security objectives.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed where applicable.

  • Proven RTL design and integration experience using Verilog/SystemVerilog for SoC/subsystem or IP blocks.
  • Experience with simulation-based debug and working closely with verification teams.
  • Familiarity with quality and convergence checks: lint, CDC, low-power analysis, timing and power optimization.
  • Ability to write clear micro-architectural specifications and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience collaborating with physical design and system architects to ensure implementable designs.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with SoC flows for reset, power management, interrupts, and error handling.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field (with ~6+ years relevant experience) OR Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related STEM field (with ~5+ years relevant experience). Equivalent practical experience is implied by the experience-based qualification routes described.
