Job Title

SoC I/O Subsystem Design Engineer

Role Summary

The SoC I/O Subsystem Design Engineer will integrate and develop I/O subsystems (PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet and similar IP) for Arm SoCs. You will produce micro-architecture specifications, develop RTL, perform design checks and collaborate with verification, performance analysis and backend implementation teams.

This is a hybrid role based in Austin, TX with regular in-office collaboration and cross-functional coordination.

Experience Level

Senior — requires 7+ years of experience in design of complex compute subsystems or SoCs.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include specification, RTL development, verification support and implementation support for I/O subsystems on SoC projects.

  • Integrate PCIe, DDR and other I/O IP into SoC designs and review subsystem architectures.
  • Write micro-architecture and design specifications.
  • Develop RTL, fix functional bugs, and perform design reviews.
  • Run and interpret static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-Propagation, linting) and other design validations.
  • Collaborate with verification teams to review test plans and debug issues.
  • Work with performance analysis to evaluate and improve I/O performance.
  • Support backend implementation: floorplanning, constraints and timing closure.
  • Contribute to and improve team design methodologies and flows.
  • Mentor and support other team members and work with project management on schedules and deliverables.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.

  • Strong knowledge of digital hardware design and Verilog HDL.
  • Practical experience creating design specifications and developing RTL for SoC projects.
  • Experience developing and integrating subsystems for PCIe, DDR/LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet.
  • Familiarity with static design checks: CDC, RDC, X-Propagation, linting.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Perl or Python for design automation and analysis tasks.
  • Experience collaborating with verification, performance analysis and backend implementation teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with ARM-based designs and ARM system architectures.
  • SystemVerilog and verification methodologies (UVM/OVM/e).
  • Experience leading small teams or projects.
  • Knowledge of synthesis and timing analysis, power management techniques, DFT and physical implementation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field is specified. The posting also requires 7+ years of relevant professional experience.
