SoC Functional Validation Engineer (Temporary position)
Intel CorporationJob Title
SoC Functional Validation Engineer (Temporary position)
Role Summary
Validate functionality, reliability, and performance of integrated System-on-Chip (SoC) designs across pre-silicon and post-silicon environments. Work with architecture, design, verification, platform, board, and manufacturing teams to define validation plans, develop test content, perform debug, and deliver validation reports.
This is a temporary 2-year position based in Guadalajara with a hybrid work model.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early-career. The role requires at least 1 year of technology-related experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Define, develop, and execute functional validation plans for integrated SoCs (IP integration, IP interactions, system-level features) in PreSi and PostSi.
- Develop test content and automated test cases to validate SoC features and interactions.
- Debug functional and triage failures to identify root causes and implement fixes or workarounds.
- Assess design changes and update validation plans and timelines accordingly.
- Develop post-silicon validation tools and use advanced validation infrastructure (simulation, emulation, FPGA, containers) to exercise features.
- Collaborate with architecture, design, verification, board, platform, and manufacturing teams to optimize debug strategies and validation processes.
- Publish detailed validation reports summarizing activities, results, and findings.
- Develop simulation content for specific IP interactions using microcode, firmware, or custom OS builds.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and conditions:
- Minimum 1+ years of technology-related experience in validation or related engineering activities.
- Proficient in Python scripting with object-oriented programming.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SoC validation methodologies and debugging techniques.
- Strong understanding of CPU architecture fundamentals.
- Experience with C, C++ or C# programming.
- Intermediate to advanced English communication skills.
- Unrestricted, permanent right to work in Mexico (no employment-based visa/immigration sponsorship available).
- Ability to work in a hybrid model and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience debugging complex SoC problems and developing advanced validation infrastructure.
- Familiarity with SoC domains: AI, communication, PCIe, I2C, security, manageability, power management, memory technologies.
- Experience with JTAG/ITP tools, OS debug, kernel and driver-level debugging on Windows and/or Linux.
- Exposure to container environments and automated validation tooling.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field is required. A Master's degree in those fields is preferred.
