Job Title

SoC Functional Validation Engineer

Role Summary

The engineer will perform post-silicon functional validation and hands-on debug for SoC/platform components (CPU, chipset, board) to ensure product quality and reliability for server, workstation, desktop and mobile segments.

Work is performed within the Functional Validation team in the Silicon and Platform Engineering group; the role is eligible for a hybrid work model (split on-site and off-site time).

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career. The posting indicates college graduate level; 2+ years of relevant validation/design/debug experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on post-silicon validation, debugging, test development and tool support.

  • Lead and execute debug tests to identify platform failures at CPU, chipset and board levels.
  • Perform hands-on root-cause analysis and deep IP debug to isolate failing components.
  • Develop and maintain validation and test suites; drive continuous improvement of test methodologies.
  • Design and develop validation tools and automation (BIOS, platform drivers, debug tools, automation flows).
  • Operate and maintain hardware lab equipment and test setups for validation activities.

Requirements

  • Must-have: Practical experience with SoC/platform architectures and hardware setup, including hands-on debug.
  • Must-have: Strong debugging skills with ability to reproduce issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Must-have: Experience validating debug features (traces, cross-trigger, VISA, scan) in pre- or post-silicon environments.
  • Must-have: Experience using hardware lab equipment and debug tools (e.g., Lauterbach, logic analyzers, protocol exercisers, test stations).
  • Must-have: Proficiency in developing scripts/automation flows and familiarity with content/debug automation.
  • Must-have: Practical scripting or light programming ability to implement automation and test flows.
  • Nice-to-have: 2+ years of relevant validation/design/debug experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Functional Safety (FuSa) experience.
  • Nice-to-have: Ability to influence stakeholders and present new methodologies effectively.
