Job Title
SOC Frontend Integration Engineer
Role Summary
Owner of top-level SoC RTL integration for complex FPGA-based System-on-Chip designs. The role assembles internal and third-party IP into a scalable, testable top-level SoC and works across architecture, IP design, verification, physical design, and software teams to take SoCs from concept to tapeout.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Specific years of experience not stated.
Responsibilities
Primary duties focus on frontend RTL integration, quality, and handoff to downstream teams.
- Construct and maintain top-level SoC RTL, integrating internal and third-party IP.
- Define and enforce top-level hierarchy, connectivity, clocking, reset, and power strategies.
- Drive frontend quality checks and closure (lint, CDC/RDC, logical verification compile, emulation support).
- Partner with verification teams to enable SoC-level simulation, emulation, and regression environments.
- Collaborate with software teams to integrate SoC into the Quartus flow and enable system bring-up.
- Provide clear frontend handoffs for physical integration, timing/power convergence, pinout development, and reliability assessments.
- Debug and resolve complex integration issues across RTL, verification, and downstream flows.
- Improve SoC integration flows, automation, and documentation; promote best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tools for this role, plus a few desirable skills.
-
Must-have: RTL design and integration experience using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
-
Must-have: Practical experience with RTL quality checks and closure (lint, CDC, RDC, logical verification compile).
-
Must-have: Solid understanding of SoC architectures and IP-based design methodologies.
-
Must-have: Experience running and debugging frontend quality checks and related tool flows.
-
Must-have: Comfortable working in Linux and scripting with Perl, Python, Tcl, or Shell.
-
Must-have: Strong debugging, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
-
Nice-to-have: Knowledge of AI/ML SoC techniques to improve SoC integration productivity.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (as stated). No explicit mention of equivalent-experience language.
