SoC Engineer - Synthesis & Timing
Role Summary
Engineer on Synopsys Ho Chi Minh City ASIC/SoC projects responsible for implementing synthesis and timing-closure flows and supporting customer designs using Synopsys EDA tools and IP.
Work as part of a service project team on turnkey engagements and as a technical advisor to customers; collaborate with product teams, AEs, and sales to deploy tool and IP solutions.
Experience Level
Mid-level - approximately 2–4 years of related ASIC/SoC experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include execution and improvement of synthesis and timing flows, verification of results, and direct customer engagement on delivery and support.
- Execute and optimize synthesis flows (Synthesis, LEC, LDRC, GCA, STA).
- Perform timing closure and related analysis (PTPX, STA workflows).
- Develop and maintain automation and scripts for flows (Tcl/Perl/Python).
- Diagnose RTL, DFT, and implementation issues; provide actionable fixes.
- Deliver project tasks on schedule and independently implement solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams (BU AEs, Sales) and act as a customer-facing technical resource.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate success in the role.
- 2–4 years of hands-on ASIC/SoC design experience with synthesis and timing closure.
- Practical experience with synthesis, equivalence checking (LEC), and static timing analysis (STA) flows.
- Familiarity with LDRC, GCA, PTPX, VCLP, IREM and related implementation checks.
- RTL and DFT knowledge sufficient to debug implementation issues.
- Scripting skills (Tcl, Perl, or Python) for flow automation.
- Good English communication skills and willingness to engage with customers.
- Nice-to-have: experience in low-power or high-performance design and work on advanced nodes (<12nm).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree (BS or MS) in Electrical Engineering or a related major.
