SOC Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
SOC Engineer
Role Summary
Join AMD's SOC design team owning design and integration tasks across RTL through full-chip implementation. The role focuses on integrating internal and third-party IP, defining SOC-level features, and driving decisions that affect latency, performance, power, and timing.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting does not specify exact years of experience.
Responsibilities
Primary technical responsibilities and cross-team collaboration areas.
- Drive SOC-level design and integration and own a key domain of the chip.
- Integrate IP, SOC fabric, voltage/clock crossings, clocks, resets, fuses, and I/O.
- Develop and maintain Verilog RTL and related SOC logic.
- Own SOC power design and implementation (including UPF workflows).
- Perform static verification of RTL, CDC, power, and connectivity.
- Collaborate with IP development, verification, front-end integration, and physical design teams; provide awareness of physical design constraints.
- Lead domain-level design decisions and coordinate across stakeholders to meet latency, performance, and timing goals.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and desirable additional experience.
- Must-have: Verilog RTL development experience in CPU, SOC, or ASIC environments.
- Must-have: SOC integration and architecture understanding; familiarity with system bus protocols such as AXI and PCIe.
- Must-have: Experience with power implementation methodology, UPF, and SOC power design.
- Must-have: Static timing analysis and static verification (RTL, CDC, power, connectivity).
- Must-have: Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to own problems end-to-end.
- Nice-to-have: Formal verification techniques and tools.
- Nice-to-have: Scripting skills (Ruby, Perl, Shell, TCL).
Education Requirements
BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering (ECE/EEE) or a related technical field. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience; a background in SOC design and Verilog RTL development is preferred.
