QualcommJob Title
SOC Design Verification Engineer - Staff
Role Summary
Senior verification engineer responsible for architecture, verification, and validation of complex SoC/IP blocks within Qualcomm's ASIC engineering organization. The role collaborates with hardware, software, and program teams to define verification strategy and deliver silicon-quality results.
Experience Level
Level: Senior. Preferred experience is 6+ years in ASIC design/verification; minimum experience expectations vary by degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on defining verification approaches and delivering validated IP/SoC features to meet system requirements.
- Define, model, design, verify, validate, and document IP and SoC blocks for high-performance, low-power products.
- Create architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system simulations from system-level requirements.
- Develop and execute verification strategies across pre-silicon and post-silicon flows.
- Collaborate with software/hardware architecture, product management, and program teams to meet requirements and timelines.
- Evaluate and optimize flows from RTL through synthesis, place-and-route, timing, and power analysis.
- Use EDA flows and tools (e.g., RTL-to-GDS, Virtuoso) to enable block/SoC implementation.
- Write and review technical documentation and design/verification reports.
- Provide guidance to other engineers and influence cross-team technical decisions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for day-one productivity; preferred items are indicated.
- Proven ASIC design, verification, validation, or integration experience.
- Experience with design verification methodologies and flows.
- Familiarity with EDA flows and tools (RTL-to-GDS flow, place-and-route, timing and power analysis).
- Scripting and programming experience (automation of verification flows); familiarity with common languages and tools.
- Ability to work independently, communicate complex technical issues, and interact with senior leadership.
- Preferred: experience with architecture and design tools and prior interaction with senior leadership.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field plus 4+ years ASIC experience; OR Master's degree plus 3+ years; OR PhD plus 2+ years (the posting allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of degree). Preferred: Master's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
