SOC Design Verification Engineer – Data Center Solutions
QualcommJob Title
SOC Design Verification Engineer – Data Center Solutions
Role Summary
Join the Data Center SoC verification team to verify next-generation SoCs used for AI, high-performance computing, and cloud infrastructure. Work with architects, RTL designers, software, and verification teams to develop scalable verification solutions and drive signoff for complex SoC features.
Focus areas include multi-core CPUs, cache coherency, memory subsystems, AI accelerators, high-speed interfaces, security, and power/RAS features.
Experience Level
Entry / Early-career. The posting requests a minimum of 2+ years of design verification experience for candidates with a Bachelor's degree (Master's/PhD options reduce the required years); senior roles may be offered to more experienced candidates.
Responsibilities
Verify SoC, subsystem, and IP features from architecture through signoff and contribute to verification methodology and automation.
- Develop and execute verification plans for SoC, subsystems, and IP.
- Design and implement SystemVerilog/UVM and processor-based verification environments.
- Create directed and constrained-random tests, assertions, coverage models, and checkers.
- Debug RTL, testbench, and integration issues and collaborate with design teams to resolve defects.
- Drive coverage closure using functional and code coverage metrics.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews to capture verification requirements early.
- Verify complex features: multi-core CPUs, cache coherency/interconnects, DDR/HBM, PCIe/CXL/Ethernet, security, RAS, and power-management.
- Support emulation/acceleration and post-silicon validation when required.
- Contribute to automation, reusable components, and AI-assisted verification workflows.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- 2+ years of ASIC/SoC design verification experience (see Experience Level for degree-dependent variations).
- Strong SystemVerilog and UVM expertise; experience with processor-based verification environments.
- Proficiency in C and assertion-based verification (SVA); experience with coverage-driven verification.
- Experience developing verification environments from architecture/specification to signoff and debugging complex SoC-level issues.
- Strong understanding of computer architecture and digital design fundamentals.
- Experience with emulation/acceleration platforms and scripting (Python or similar) for automation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- CPU verification, cache coherency protocols (ACE, CHI, CXL), DDR/HBM, PCIe, Ethernet, AI/ML accelerator verification.
- Portable Stimulus (PSS), formal verification, power-aware verification, ATE and post-silicon bring-up experience.
- Experience with emulation platforms (Veloce/Palladium/ZeBu) and AI-assisted test generation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is requested. Minimum qualification examples in the posting: Bachelor's + 2+ years verification/ASIC experience; OR Master's + 1+ year verification/ASIC experience; OR PhD in Science/Engineering/related field. "Related field" language is used; equivalent practical experience is not explicitly stated but advanced degrees reduce the stated experience requirement.
