Job Title

SoC Design Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Work on functional verification of system-on-chip (SoC) designs within Intel's Data Center Group. The role focuses on defining and executing verification plans, developing scalable testbenches and environments, and validating designs using emulation and simulation.

The engineer will collaborate with architects, RTL developers, postsilicon and physical design teams to identify and resolve design issues and improve verification coverage.

Experience Level

Entry-level - 0–1 years of hands-on verification experience; recent graduates or candidates with internship/academic project experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing, executing, and improving verification for blocks, subsystems, and SoCs.

  • Develop and implement scalable, reusable block, subsystem, and SoC verification plans and test environments.
  • Write SoC feature tests and build test environments for emulation and system simulation.
  • Execute verification on emulation/simulation platforms to validate functionality, power, and performance.
  • Debug failing tests: reproduce issues, root-cause analysis, and implement fixes or workarounds.
  • Collaborate with architects, RTL teams, postsilicon and physical design groups to close coverage gaps.
  • Document test plans, lead technical reviews, and incorporate security test activities.
  • Maintain and enhance verification infrastructure and methodologies; update tests based on postsilicon findings.

Requirements

Core technical skills and practical abilities required for the role.

  • Must-have: Proficiency in logic design and verification methodologies.
  • Must-have: Experience writing SoC feature tests and developing test environments (internship or academic project experience acceptable).
  • Must-have: Knowledge of hardware validation, debug processes, and experience reproducing and diagnosing failures.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with Design for Test (DFT) tools and techniques.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with emulation and system-level simulation platforms.
  • Nice-to-have: Understanding of digital design fundamentals, system architecture, and power/performance tradeoffs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work across distributed engineering teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (or equivalent practical experience) with 0–1 years of hands-on SoC verification experience, or a Master's degree in a relevant field with no prior professional experience. The posting permits internships, academic projects, or coursework to satisfy experience expectations.
