Job Title
SoC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Join the Server SoC Design Validation team to validate next-generation Xeon server SoCs and IPs. The role focuses on pre-silicon functional verification and emulation to ensure designs meet specifications for functionality, performance, and security.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early career. Suitable for recent college graduates or engineers with approximately 0β3 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include planning and executing verification and emulation activities, debugging pre-silicon issues, and collaborating across design and validation teams.
- Perform functional logic verification and emulation validation of integrated SoCs to ensure designs meet specifications.
- Define and develop scalable, reusable block, subsystem, and SoC verification plans, testbenches, and verification environments.
- Execute verification plans and run emulation/system simulations to verify design, analyze power and performance, and uncover bugs.
- Replicate, root-cause, and debug issues in pre-silicon; implement corrective measures and drive fixes to closure.
- Collaborate with SoC architects, micro-architects, RTL developers, post-silicon, and physical design teams to verify complex architectural and microarchitectural features.
- Document test plans and lead technical reviews of verification strategies and proofs with design and architecture teams.
- Incorporate and execute security activities within test plans, including regression and debug tests to ensure security coverage.
- Maintain and improve functional verification infrastructure, methodology, and test suites; incorporate lessons learned from post-silicon validation.
Requirements
Must-have skills for initial consideration and additional desirable skills.
- Related technical experience in silicon design, validation, or verification.
- Experience creating and executing verification plans, testbenches, and coverage-driven tests.
- Strong debug skills and ability to drive issues to resolution in pre-silicon environments.
- Effective communicator, problem solver, quick learner, and team player who takes ownership of assigned tasks.
- Nice-to-have: UVM/SystemVerilog and constrained-random methodologies, verification IP architecture and development experience, emulation validation, post-silicon validation experience, scripting for automation, experience with cache coherency and layered protocols (transaction, data link, PHY), and prior Xeon CPU validation experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 1+ year of related technical experience, OR a Master's degree, OR a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Related coursework or technical experience in silicon design and/or validation/verification is expected.
