SOC Design Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
SOC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Early-career ASIC/SoC verification engineer on the ASICS Engineering team. The role supports defining, modeling, verifying, validating and documenting IP (block/SoC) development and works with cross-functional teams to implement verification and design flows.
Experience Level
Entry-level (0β3 years). Works under supervision; routine decision-making affecting the immediate work area. Posting indicates preference for ~6+ months of tool, scripting, and verification experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties include assisting with verification and implementation of IP and SoC blocks and supporting the design flow from architecture through physical implementation.
- Assist in defining, modeling, designing and verifying IP/block and SoC components.
- Support creation of architectures, circuit specifications, logic designs, and system-level simulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop implementation strategies that meet system and customer requirements.
- Support evaluation of design flow from RTL through synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis; or support custom circuit design/layout flow.
- Use EDA tools and flows (examples: RTL-to-GDS, Virtuoso) to execute and verify designs.
- Prepare technical documentation for EDA/IP/ASIC projects.
Requirements
Expectations are split between baseline capabilities and preferred experience.
- Must-have: Basic ASIC design or verification knowledge; strong verbal and written communication; ability to work under supervision and complete multi-step technical tasks.
- Nice-to-have: ~6+ months experience with architecture/design tools, scripting/programming languages, and design verification methods; familiarity with RTL-to-GDS flow, synthesis, place-and-route, and timing/power analysis.
- Ability to plan and prioritize routine engineering tasks and solve straightforward technical problems.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
