SOC Design Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
SOC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Verify next-generation Data Center SoCs used for AI, high-performance computing, and cloud infrastructure. Work on full-chip and subsystem verification, collaborating with architects, design engineers, software teams, and verification specialists to deliver first-silicon success.
Experience Level
Mid-level; typically requires 2+ years of design verification experience. Senior-level consideration may be given to candidates with proven expertise.
Responsibilities
Define and execute verification strategies, implement verification environments, and drive coverage and sign-off for complex SoC designs.
- Develop and execute verification plans for SoC, subsystems, and IP.
- Design and implement SystemVerilog/UVM and processor-based verification environments.
- Create directed and constrained-random test scenarios; develop assertions, functional coverage, and checkers.
- Debug RTL, testbench, and integration issues; collaborate with design teams to resolve defects.
- Drive coverage closure using functional and code coverage metrics.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews to incorporate verification requirements early.
- Verify Data Center SoC features including multi-core CPUs, cache coherency, memory subsystems (DDR/HBM), PCIe/CXL/Ethernet, security, RAS, and power-management.
- Support emulation and acceleration-based verification and post-silicon bring-up when required.
- Contribute to methodology improvements, automation, reusable components, and AI-assisted verification flows.
Requirements
Core technical skills and practical verification experience required; preferred items are noted.
- Must-have: Minimum 2+ years ASIC/SoC design verification experience.
- Must-have: Strong SystemVerilog, UVM, C, and Assertion-Based Verification (SVA) skills.
- Must-have: Experience developing verification environments from architecture/specification through signoff and using coverage-driven verification.
- Must-have: Strong understanding of computer architecture and digital design fundamentals; proven ability to debug complex SoC-level issues.
- Must-have: Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Nice-to-have: CPU verification, cache coherency protocols (ACE, CHI, CXL), DDR/HBM, PCIe/Ethernet, AI/ML accelerator verification, security/RAS, system performance and power verification.
- Nice-to-have: Portable Stimulus (PSS), formal verification, emulation platforms (Veloce/Palladium/ZeBu), power-aware verification, Python/scripting for automation, ATE and post-silicon bring-up, AI-assisted verification.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Science, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum qualifications specify: Bachelor's + 2+ years of ASIC design/verification/validation/integration experience; OR Master's + 1+ year of related experience; OR PhD in Science/Engineering/related field.
