SoC Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for functional verification and emulation validation of Intel server SoCs within the Data Center Group (DCG). Works with architects, RTL developers, post-silicon, and physical design teams to ensure designs meet specifications and reliability goals.
Focus is on pre-silicon verification of Xeon server SoCs to detect and resolve functional, power, and performance issues.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Minimum 6 months of relevant experience; typically a recent college graduate (College Grad).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning and executing verification tasks, debugging failures, and maintaining verification infrastructure.
- Perform functional verification and emulation validation of integrated SoCs to confirm designs meet specifications.
- Develop scalable and reusable block, subsystem, and SoC verification plans, testbenches, and environments.
- Execute verification plans, run regressions, analyze simulations, and debug power and performance issues.
- Root-cause failures and implement corrective measures in pre-silicon environments.
- Collaborate with architects, RTL developers, post-silicon teams, and physical design experts.
- Document test plans and drive technical reviews with design and architecture teams.
- Maintain and improve verification infrastructure and methodology based on post-silicon learnings.
Requirements
Minimum required experience and preferred skills.
- Must-have: Minimum 6 months of experience in silicon design and/or validation/verification methodologies and tools.
- Must-have: Familiarity with the verification lifecycle, including test plan creation, bug debugging, and coverage analysis.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with UVM/SystemVerilog constrained-random, coverage-driven verification methodologies.
- Nice-to-have: Experience developing validation test suites, automation scripting, and driving continuous improvement of methodologies.
- Nice-to-have: Understanding of cache coherency principles in multiprocessor SoCs and layered protocols.
- Nice-to-have: Debugging skills and experience with emulation validation or post-silicon validation; Xeon CPU pre-silicon experience is a plus.
Education Requirements
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is required. Qualifications may be satisfied through a combination of industry experience, internships, coursework, or research. Minimum relevant experience: 6 months in silicon design/verification.
