Senior Engineer, ASIC Validation
Micron TechnologyJob Title
Senior Engineer, ASIC Validation
Role Summary
Lead validation and bring-up for an SoC focused on ONFI, LPDDR and PCIe subsystems across architecture, pre-silicon, board design and post-silicon phases. Collaborate with architecture, design, firmware and board teams to plan, execute and debug validation activities.
Experience Level
Senior; minimum 5+ years of processor-based SoC validation and hands-on experience with SOC C/firmware tests.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Own SoC validation for ONFI, LPDDR and PCIe across architecture, pre‑silicon, board design and post‑silicon stages.
- Coordinate with Architecture, Design, Firmware and AE teams to define validation plans and test vectors.
- Review architecture and verification plans; create and update ONFI/LPDDR/PCIe validation plans and C/FW based tests.
- Perform processor-based SoC verification and emulation using C/FW/AE flows and run SOC C simulations (VCS) to reproduce and debug issues.
- Participate in silicon bring-up and firmware bring-up; use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and protocol analyzers during post-silicon debugging.
- Root-cause issues at PHY, controller, firmware and system levels and deliver debug logs, traces and root-cause summaries.
Requirements
Key technical and behavioral requirements. Listed as must-have vs nice-to-have where applicable.
- Must-have: Thorough knowledge of ONFI, LPDDR and PCIe standards.
- Must-have: Minimum 5+ years of processor-based SoC validation with hands-on experience executing SOC C/firmware tests and debug.
- Must-have: Good understanding of SoC architecture and experience with processor-based verification and emulation flows.
- Must-have: Experience running SOC C simulations and debugging with VCS or equivalent simulators.
- Must-have: Proficiency in scripting for test and automation (Python, Perl, TCL).
- Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication; effective team collaboration and professional conduct.
- Must-have: Comfortable using AI-assisted tools such as Copilot or Claude for productivity and code assistance.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with other industry interfaces (e.g., AXI) and broader protocol knowledge.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
