QualcommJob Title
SoC Design - Sr Lead
Role Summary
Senior hardware engineer responsible for planning, designing, optimizing, verifying and testing system-on-chip and related electronic subsystems. Works with cross-functional teams to bring products from design through manufacturing and improve yield, test time, and quality.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical hires have 4–8 years of hardware engineering experience; preferred candidates have 5+ years and at least 1 year in a technical leadership role (with or without direct reports).
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include technical design, verification, and production bring-up for complex hardware systems.
- Plan, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems, including digital/analog/RF/optical, FPGA, DSP, and related subsystems.
- Integrate features into hardware designs to meet roadmap and product requirements.
- Perform simulations and analyses to balance power, performance, and area trade-offs.
- Lead hardware bring-up and manufacturing characterization to meet yield and schedule targets.
- Collaborate with design, verification, validation, software, systems engineering, and architecture teams.
- Develop and apply test solutions, automation, and optimizations to improve yield and test throughput.
- Evaluate reliability of materials and processes and identify potential design or compliance issues.
- Produce detailed technical documentation and communicate results to stakeholders.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and demonstrated capabilities.
- Proven hardware engineering experience (design, verification, or bring-up) on complex products.
- Experience with circuit-level work (digital, analog, or RF) and implementing designs into hardware.
- Experience using schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.
- Familiarity with hardware measurement and lab instruments (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF tools, etc.).
- Ability to run complex simulations and perform design analyses to identify and fix flaws.
- Experience developing manufacturing/test solutions and improving yield and test time.
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to write technical documentation and convey results to teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and provide guidance to other team members.
- Preferred: demonstrated experience in automation, reliability evaluation, and leading technical efforts.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field — OR equivalent practical experience. Preferred candidates may hold a Master’s degree. (Degree and field language appeared in the original qualifications.)
