SOC Design Implementation Engineer
QualcommJob Title
SOC Design Implementation Engineer
Role Summary
Work on SoC design implementation to achieve performance, power and area targets. Collaborate with design, DFT and physical design teams to perform synthesis, timing closure, signoff analyses and verification for gate-level and RTL flows.
Experience Level
Entry-level - typically 1β3 years of relevant hardware/ASIC implementation experience. Minimum experience varies by degree: Bachelor's +2 years, Master's +1 year, or PhD.
Responsibilities
Primary implementation and signoff activities for SoC blocks and integrations.
- Perform RTL synthesis and optimize for performance/power/area.
- Implement DFT features (MBIST, SCAN) and set up functional and test-mode timing constraints.
- Run static low-power checks on gate-level netlists.
- Verify logic equivalency (RTL-to-gates and gates-to-gates).
- Setup signoff static timing analysis (STA) and ECO flows; work to achieve timing closure.
- Perform timing analysis with STA tools and debug constraint issues.
- Collaborate with design, DFT and physical-design teams to resolve implementation issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful execution of the role.
- Practical experience with RTL synthesis flows and optimization for PPA.
- Experience implementing and validating DFT (MBIST, SCAN) and test-mode constraints.
- Proven experience with static timing analysis and timing closure methodologies and ECO flows.
- Experience running logic equivalency checks between RTL and gate-level netlists.
- Ability to run and interpret static low-power checks on gate-level designs.
- Skilled at constraints debugging and performing sanity checks on timing constraints.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work across design, DFT and PD teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field (with 2+ years of hardware engineering experience); OR Master's degree in the same fields (with 1+ year of hardware engineering experience); OR PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
