SOC Design Engineer, ASIC Tools and Methodology Development
Role Summary
Develop and maintain in-house ASIC design tools, automated RTL generation workflows, and methodologies to support IP and SoC engineering teams.
Provide tooling ownership, verification support for common design blocks, and integration of workflows into IP development environments while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level — 3+ years of relevant experience preferred.
Responsibilities
The role focuses on development, ownership, and integration of tools and workflows:
- Develop and deploy internal tools and workflows for engineering business units.
- Own and maintain verification tools for common design blocks used across products.
- Act as a DevOps engineer for automated RTL generation: implement new features and maintain operations for users.
- Build workflows and methodologies to ensure smooth integration into various IP development environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy tooling and resolve integration issues.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 3+ years practical experience working with digital/ASIC design tools and methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with Verilog and strong understanding of digital design fundamentals.
- Proficiency in scripting with Python and/or Perl.
- Experience with Unix/Linux shell scripting and Makefiles.
- Strong technical communication and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior experience in ASIC verification.
- Knowledge of clock/reset design and verification.
- Exposure to CDC design/verification flows.
- Familiarity with backend flows such as synthesis and timing analysis.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
