Job Title

SoC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Member of Arm's Solution Engineering division responsible for specification, RTL design and implementation of SoC subsystems. The role works on high-performance compute and AI solutions, collaborating with verification, performance/power analysis, and cross-functional teams to deliver SoC products.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires 7+ years of experience in design of complex compute subsystems or SoCs.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include designing logic, producing micro-architecture and RTL, and supporting implementation and verification activities.

  • Develop micro-architecture specifications and RTL for SoC subsystems.
  • Perform design checks, fix RTL bugs, and contribute implementation constraints.
  • Collaborate with verification to review test plans and debug design issues.
  • Work with performance and power analysis teams to evaluate and improve SoC power/performance.
  • Contribute to and improve team design methodologies and flows.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and assist project management with planning and schedules.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Education is summarized separately below.

  • Practical experience in digital hardware design using Verilog HDL.
  • Experience with power and clock domain crossing and static design checks (linting, CDC/RDC, X-propagation).
  • Exposure to full design lifecycle: concept, specification, implementation, power/performance analysis, testing and support.
  • Knowledge of synthesis, timing constraints and power-management techniques.
  • Experience collaborating with verification teams to achieve design-quality closure.
  • Proficiency in scripting (Perl, Python or similar) for automation and debug.
  • Leadership, mentoring or coaching experience.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with ARM-based designs and ARM system architectures.
  • SystemVerilog and verification methodologies (UVM/OVM/e).
  • Experience with UPF, IP-XACT, or DFT topics (RTL testability, scan insertion).
  • Experience integrating subsystems such as PCIe, UCIe, DDR/LPDDR/HBM, Ethernet.
  • Experience leading teams or projects.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field β€” or equivalent practical experience.
