Job Title
SoC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Work as an RTL/SoC design engineer on subsystem integration and RTL development used across IoT, Automotive and Infrastructure product lines. Collaborate with IP teams, verification, performance analysis and project management to deliver systems optimised for performance, power and silicon integration.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Years of experience not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include system‑level integration, microarchitecture and RTL delivery, verification support and performance optimisation:
- Review subsystem architecture and develop microarchitecture specifications and RTL.
- Integrate incoming IPs, understand interfaces and ensure correct interworking at subsystem/SoC level.
- Review verification test plans, debug issues and work with verification teams to resolve defects.
- Collaborate with performance analysis to evaluate and improve system performance and PPA.
- Run design checks, fix functional and integration bugs, and support synthesis/timing analysis.
- Propose refinements to IP teams based on system-level integration and usage.
- Identify and drive improvements to design methodologies and flows.
- Support and mentor other team members and coordinate with Project Management on plans and schedules.
Requirements
Key technical skills and delivery experience. Education requirements are listed separately below.
Must-have
- Experience with digital hardware design and Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Detailed knowledge of design techniques for complex SoC development.
- Experience with static design checks (CDC, RDC, X-propagation, lint).
- Experience creating design specifications and delivering sophisticated RTL subsystems.
- Scripting experience (Perl, Python or similar) for tool automation and flow support.
- Ability to make and justify high-level PPA trade-offs.
- Experience with synthesis, timing analysis and power management techniques.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with ARM-based designs and ARM system architectures.
- Knowledge of memory system interconnect protocols (e.g. AMBA ACE‑Lite, AXI).
- Familiarity with processor subsystems, NoCs, security subsystems, PCIe subsystems or system power management flows.
- Experience with verification methodologies and SystemVerilog-based verification flows.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical field.
