Job Title

SoC Debug / Post-Silicon PnP Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Join a Silicon Architecture team to validate and debug SoC power and performance (PnP) at system and chip levels. The role focuses on post-silicon validation, developing automation and design-for-debug tools, and resolving complex system-level issues.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically candidates have around 3+ years of relevant industry experience in SoC debug or equivalent technical roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include validating SoC power/performance, debugging system-level failures, and improving validation processes and tooling.

  • Execute power and performance (PnP) validation for systems, subsystems, and SoC components.
  • Develop and maintain design-for-debug (DFD) tools, automation scripts, and validation strategies.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for triage failures, power marginality, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Design and run test methodologies for device features, power states, and performance characteristics.
  • Process and analyze large datasets using scripting and automation to extract power/performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with design, validation, and manufacturing teams to support debug readiness and issue resolution.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and drive continuous improvement of validation methods.

Requirements

Technical must-have skills and preferred skills are listed below. Education requirements are summarized separately under Education Requirements.

  • Must-have: Hands-on SoC debug or validation experience on platforms or equivalent technical roles.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with scripting languages (Python) for automation and data analysis.
  • Must-have: Knowledge of SoC design, architecture, and microarchitecture fundamentals.
  • Must-have: Experience with debugging tools, defect triage, and system-level root-cause analysis.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with power management concepts (PPM, P-states, C-states).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with power measurement tools (e.g., NIDAQ, thermal control equipment) and power-performance characterization.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience using performance benchmarks and power-performance analysis methodologies.
  • Behavioral: Analytical thinking, ownership, effective cross-functional collaboration, adaptability, attention to detail, and clear communication.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or another STEM field with 3+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's in a similar field with at least 6 months of educational or work experience. Equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree is accepted per the posting.
