SoC Data Path Engineer
Advanced Micro DevicesJob Title
SoC Data Path Engineer
Role Summary
Lead post-silicon validation and debug of on-chip fabric and data transport architectures for multi-die graphics and compute products. The role focuses on validating coherency, routing, memory interactions, and system-level data flows across CPU, GPU, accelerator, and chiplet subsystems to ensure performance, scalability, functionality, and reliability.
Experience Level
Mid-level. No specific years of experience were specified in the posting.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include planning and executing validation, leading debug efforts, and coordinating cross-functional resolution of silicon and system issues.
- Lead post-silicon validation and debug of SoC fabric, interconnect, and system-level data transport.
- Drive root-cause analysis for coherency, routing, credit protocols, transaction ordering, memory interactions, and compute pipeline issues.
- Develop and execute validation plans; improve coverage via automation, tooling, fault injection, and stress testing.
- Analyze scan dumps, silicon debug logs, and system telemetry to resolve hangs, stalls, synchronization failures, and protocol violations.
- Collaborate with design, firmware, driver, runtime, and software teams to debug hardware-software interactions.
- Lead cross-functional debug across multiple IPs, chiplets, memory subsystems, and fabric domains to drive product readiness.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: Post-silicon validation or hardware debug experience with ownership of validation planning and execution.
- Must-have: Strong understanding of SoC architecture, on-chip fabrics, coherency protocols, memory hierarchies, caches, DMA, interrupts, and address translation.
- Must-have: Experience debugging silicon using scan dump analysis, JTAG or equivalent tools and performing system-level root cause analysis for hangs, stalls, protocol violations, and performance issues.
- Must-have: Proficiency in C/C++, Python, Perl, or similar scripting languages for validation automation and debug tooling.
- Must-have: Ability to lead cross-team debugging involving firmware, drivers, and software runtimes.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with graphics and compute architectures, GPU software stacks, runtime environments, and RAS features (error detection, fault handling, machine check logging).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with multi-die/chiplet systems and high-performance compute product environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
