Job Title
SoC Chip Lead
Role Summary
Lead execution of complex SoC projects from specification through tape-out and productization. Own technical strategy, top-level architecture, and delivery across multiple engineering domains to achieve first-time-right silicon for mission-critical products.
Work closely with design, verification, physical design, power, silicon validation, software, manufacturing, and program management to align technology roadmaps with business objectives.
Experience Level
Senior β 12+ years of relevant semiconductor design experience (as stated in the posting).
Responsibilities
Accountable for defining architecture and driving execution of complex SoCs across disciplines and the product lifecycle.
- Define long-term product and technology roadmaps for complex SoCs and systems.
- Lead IP evaluations, vendor selection, and foundry/node choices.
- Author and drive top-level SoC architecture including interconnect (NoC), memory hierarchy, power management, and micro-architecture.
- Manage SoC lifecycle from concept through definition, tape-out, and productization; drive sign-off for synthesis, DFT, constraints, timing closure, and physical design.
- Ensure silicon meets Power, Performance, Area, and Cost (PPA) targets.
- Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams (RTL, DV, DFT, PD, Power, SiVal) and bridge hardware with software and manufacturing.
- Lead stakeholder engagement, executive decision-making, risk mitigation, and communications with product marketing and customers.
Requirements
Core skills and capabilities required for the role.
- Proven technical leadership in defining and driving digital design strategy and SoC architecture.
- Demonstrated authority in complex SoC architecture design and implementation.
- Deep multi-domain expertise across digital design, verification, physical design, power, and silicon validation.
- Track record of delivering silicon projects to tape-out with strong PPA results.
- Ability to evaluate IP, vendors, and technology nodes and make trade-offs aligned to business goals.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills; able to lead executive-level reviews.
- Industry recognition or thought leadership in digital/SoC design is preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
