Job Title

SoC CAD Engineer

Role Summary

Join the SoC Construction and Budgeting CAD team to develop and maintain automated physical-design and analysis flows for advanced-node SoC projects. The role combines EDA tool integration, custom in-house automation, and end-to-end AI/ML capabilities to improve quality of results and accelerate schedules.

You will collaborate with CAD and design teams across North America, China, and India to deliver production-ready flows, vendor integrations, and AI-driven enhancements to meet timing, area, and performance targets.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Typical candidates have approximately 3–7 years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on CAD flow development, AI integration, and cross-team collaboration to improve SoC implementation outcomes.

  • Develop methodologies and strategies to accelerate SoC design schedules.
  • Implement and maintain SoC physical-design and analysis automation flows.
  • Integrate ML-based optimization, predictive models, and LLM-assisted automation into CAD flows.
  • Design and deploy agentic AI systems to automate multi-step design and verification tasks.
  • Collaborate with EDA vendors (Synopsys, Cadence) on feature roadmaps, reference flows, and AI co-development.
  • Define flow strategy and initiatives to support future node requirements.
  • Regress methodology, analyze results, and deliver measurable QoR improvements.
  • Work closely with design and CAD implementation teams to meet QoR metrics: timing, area, and performance.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items indicated where relevant.

  • Hands-on experience in SoC physical-design implementation across multiple SoC generations.
  • Strong working knowledge of Synopsys and Cadence EDA tools.
  • Practical experience applying AI/ML to CAD, EDA, or hardware-design workflows.
  • Experience building or using LLM-based tools, agentic AI frameworks, or AI-assisted automation pipelines (preferred).
  • Expert scripting skills in Python and TCL; Perl experience required.
  • Experience with Verilog/RTL and UPF for multi-clock-domain and low-power designs.
  • Familiarity with distributed and cloud compute environments for flow automation (preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate across time zones.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
