Job Title

SoC Audio Architect, Platform Architecture

Role Summary

Design and own the audio subsystem architecture for Apple SoCs across multiple product lines. The role focuses on multi-generational subsystem architecture and roadmap, balancing performance, power, and area from early concept through tape-out and shipping products.

Work within the Platform Architecture team and collaborate with Silicon Engineering, Software, Hardware, and Firmware teams to ensure architectures scale across products.

Experience Level

Senior-level architect. Preferred qualifications mention 20+ years of relevant industry experience; the role expects substantial SoC architecture experience.

Responsibilities

Own architecture specifications and roadmaps for audio subsystems and drive technical decisions across organizations.

  • Define and maintain architecture specifications for audio subsystems across multiple SoC product lines.
  • Author and maintain multi-generational technical roadmaps and secure executive alignment.
  • Model audio workload performance and power to determine subsystem sizing and partitioning across interfaces, accelerators, DSPs, and software.
  • Collaborate with Silicon, Software, Hardware, and Firmware teams from concept through tape-out.
  • Present architecture and performance study results to cross-functional and executive audiences.
  • Mentor engineers and support onboarding and talent development within the team.

Requirements

Key must-have skills and experience for successful candidates; preferred items are listed separately.

Must-have:

  • Proven experience with SoC architecture principles.
  • Hands-on experience with SoC audio processing and audio subsystems.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience defining architecture specifications for audio, DSP, or signal-processing subsystems within an SoC.
  • In-depth understanding of on-chip fabric protocols, memory concepts, clocking/reset, and power management.
  • Skilled in digital signal processing algorithms and audio algorithms.
  • Experience with SoC power modeling and PPA optimization.
  • Familiarity with SoC audio interfaces (e.g., I2S, PDM, TDM, MIPI SWI3S) and hardware/software co-design (e.g., SystemVerilog concepts).
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and cross-functional influence skills.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree (specified in Minimum Qualifications). Preferred: Master’s degree noted in Preferred Qualifications (with 20+ years of industry experience in that preferred bullet). No specific field of study or certifications are mandated in the posting.
