Job Title

SOC Architect / uArchitect

Role Summary

Work as an SoC architect within Qualcomm's Engineering Group, contributing to system architecture and micro‑architecture for complex SoCs (mobile, IoT, XR, servers). The role collaborates across hardware and software teams to define architecture, perform power/performance analysis, and support SoC integration and validation.

Based in Bangalore as part of Systems Engineering; focuses on architecture, modeling, and methodology development for SoC subsystems.

Experience Level

Senior — typically 6–11 years in SoC architecture or systems engineering. Minimum experience expectations vary by degree (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define and evaluate SoC and subsystem architecture and micro‑architecture tradeoffs.
  • Perform power, performance, and system‑level analysis, simulation, and modeling.
  • Collaborate with design, verification, firmware and software teams for SoC integration.
  • Develop and improve experimental methodologies and analysis workflows.
  • Support RTL integration, debug, boot and bring‑up activities for SoC projects.
  • Document architecture decisions and present findings to cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Work independently and drive projects with minimal supervision.

Requirements

Must-have:

  • SOC architecture or micro‑architecture background with practical systems engineering experience.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of digital design flow and SoC integration; familiarity with HDL and VLSI flow.
  • Experience in power and performance analysis, simulation, and modeling.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work across multiple teams and disciplines.
  • Familiarity with ARM architecture and system concepts (e.g. TrustZone, virtualization) or equivalent CPU architectures.

Nice-to-have:

  • Domain experience in DDR, interconnect, system cache/coherency, QoS, modem, DSPs, CPUs, peripherals, PCIe/CXL, RISC‑V.
  • Expertise in power architecture, boot, debug, security, or access control.
  • Experience with scripting and languages such as C/C++, Python, Perl, SystemVerilog, VHDL, Verilog, SystemC; FPGA/ASIC design experience.
  • Hands‑on SoC design and integration experience for complex SoCs; familiarity with HW/SW working models.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required (Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field). Master's or PhD in a related field highly desired. Minimum qualifications specify: Bachelor's +4+ years relevant experience, Master's +3+ years, or PhD +2+ years. Equivalent practical experience may be considered where applicable.
