SoC Architect
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
SoC Architect
Role Summary
The SoC Architect defines and evolves complex Wi‑Fi system-on-chip architectures, interfaces, and specifications across hardware, firmware and IP teams. Responsible for system-level tradeoffs in compute, memory, interconnect, security and power to meet product and market requirements.
Works with cross-functional engineering teams in Pune to deliver architecture specifications, early performance/power estimates, and integration guidance for next-generation SoC products.
Experience Level
Senior — typically requires 12+ years of industry experience in SoC architecture, microarchitecture, RTL or physical design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include defining architectures, coordinating integration, and driving performance and power optimizations.
- Lead definition and evolution of Wi‑Fi SoC architectures aligned with product strategy and industry standards.
- Design scalable multi-core compute microarchitectures; optimize TCMs, SRAM hierarchy, DMA and interconnect bandwidth.
- Specify and integrate secure boot, root‑of‑trust, isolation domains and cryptographic accelerators; support functional safety and lifecycle requirements.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware and IP teams to integrate processing, memory, power management, peripherals and interconnect subsystems; interface with analog IP (ADC, DAC, PLL, SERDES).
- Lead architectural strategies for performance-per-watt tradeoffs and early power/performance estimation to reduce program risk.
- Create and maintain architecture specifications, best practices and technical documentation to guide development teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 12+ years industry experience in SoC architecture, microarchitecture, RTL design, and/or physical design.
- Deep understanding of CPU/microcontroller architectures, interconnects, memory management, bus protocols and peripheral integration.
- Experience with low-power design techniques and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with common interfaces and protocols: Ethernet, USB, SPI, I3C.
- Strong collaboration skills across silicon, hardware and software teams; experience driving cross-functional technical decisions.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ARM Cortex‑M architectures.
- Background in power and performance modeling, HW/SW co-design and debugging.
- Knowledge of functional safety and security standards.
- Familiarity with Wi‑Fi integration, networking protocols and secure wireless communication.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is specified; the posting pairs this with 12+ years of industry experience.
