SMTS Silicon Photonic Integration Engineering (Silicon Photonics)

Role Summary

Support the 300mm silicon photonic process integration team, owning process development, customer engagement, and production transfer. Deliver and sustain silicon photonic process technologies with attention to quality, cost, and delivery.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects extensive technical and leadership experience in silicon photonics (guidance: 10+ years).

Responsibilities

Lead integration activities and cross-functional collaboration to enable mass production of silicon photonic technologies.

• Lead silicon photonic process development from R&D to production transfer.
• Collaborate with process module and packaging teams to define and drive process solutions.
• Partner with Technology Development (TD) and Business Units (BU) to define project scope and ensure technical requirements are met.
• Drive technology cost reduction, process convergence, and yield improvement.
• Manage schedules, scope, and cost trade-offs across projects.
• Maintain technical documentation, presentations, and stakeholder communication.
• Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

Core technical, leadership, and project-management skills required; preferred items noted separately.

• Proven track record developing and delivering silicon photonic technology for volume manufacturing.
• Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating cross-functional groups.
• Strong project management skills with focus on schedule, scope, and cost trade-offs.
• Experience driving process convergence, yield improvement, and cost reduction efforts.
• Excellent oral and written communication; strong presentation and technical writing skills.
• Structured problem solving and familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external teams and customers.
• Self-starter, results-oriented, and able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
• Nice-to-have: experience with FEOL/BEOL processes related to silicon photonics.

Education Requirements

PhD required with 10+ years of experience in silicon photonics or a closely related field. Acceptable degree fields include Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Solid State Physics, or other relevant engineering or physical science disciplines.
