Role Summary
Senior Field Applications Engineer in the Global Sales Organization providing technical support to customers, driving technology demonstrations and design-win acquisition, and coordinating technical engagement across internal teams.
Primary focus is on qualifying and securing new business while supporting operational needs of existing clients and delivering timely technical solutions.
Experience Level
Senior-level — minimum 8 years of relevant experience in semiconductor IC design, system design, or semiconductor test.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop customized technical presentations and proposals to support customer evaluations.
- Drive technology demonstrations and formulate design-win acquisition strategy.
- Act as the primary technical interface for assigned customers and coordinate technical sales interactions.
- Communicate strengths and limitations of GlobalFoundries technology internally and to customers.
- Translate customer requirements into compelling GF design solutions and value propositions.
- Identify product or service gaps and propose actionable solutions to meet customer needs.
- Collaborate with product marketing, design solutions, and technology development teams; provide real-time customer feedback.
- Monitor competitive and technology trends that affect customer designs and GF offerings.
- Ensure design issues are resolved by engaging internal experts and driving closure of technical gaps that impact revenue opportunities.
- Partner with account and sales managers to support activities that lead to design-win closure.
- Perform work in a safe manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and core expectations:
- Minimum 8 years' experience in semiconductor IC design, system design, or semiconductor IC/system test.
- Demonstrated customer-facing technical or application engineering experience; sales aptitude for design-win support.
- Ability and willingness to travel (approx. 30% travel required).
- Fluent in English, written and verbal.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience supporting power and silicon photonics (SiPh) applications.
- Significant experience with advanced-node semiconductor technologies, design rules, enablement flows, and tools.
- Strong communication, organization, presentation, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Ability to travel internationally to customer sites and fabs in the USA, Europe, and Asia.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is required. Master’s degree or PhD in Electronics/Electrical Engineering is preferred.
