Job Title

SMTS Device Modeling & Characterization

Role Summary

Senior engineering role within the Ultra-Low-Power CMOS modeling team in Bengaluru focused on development and characterization of compact (SPICE) models for FDSOI, FinFET and Bulk MOSFET technologies used in Process Design Kits (PDKs).

The role leads model development and characterization projects, coordinates device measurements, performs model-to-hardware correlation, and supports cross-functional and consortia activities.

Experience Level

Senior — typically PhD with 8+ years' experience or Master’s with 12+ years' experience (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of SPICE model development and device characterization efforts.

  • Lead strategic SPICE model development projects for MOSFETs, FDSOI, FinFET and Bulk technologies.
  • Design MOSFET characterization structures and coordinate measurement campaigns for compact-model extraction.
  • Develop compact models for emerging devices (MRAM, RRAM) and statistical models (Monte Carlo, mismatch, fixed-corner).
  • Perform model-to-hardware correlation, K and CpK analysis, and prepare technical reports and recommendations.
  • Analyze device physics, interpret test data, and debug device and measurement issues in collaboration with device engineers.
  • Coach and mentor team members; lead cross-functional teams and serve as a consortia or supplier liaison.
  • Contribute to safety, environmental, health and security programs and maintain compliant laboratory practices.

Requirements

Technical skills and experience required for effective performance in this role.

  • Strong device physics knowledge, especially MOSFET behavior.
  • Hands-on experience with device characterization, measurements, and process development.
  • Experience with FDSOI and FinFET technologies.
  • Familiarity with BSIM compact-model families and SPICE model workflows.
  • Experience with model extraction tools such as MBP and ICCAP (preferred).
  • High-frequency (RF) MOSFET characterization and modeling (highly desirable).
  • Experience developing statistical modeling workflows and performing model-to-hardware correlation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, and leadership skills appropriate for a senior role.

Education Requirements

PhD in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (preferred) or Master’s in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with emphasis on semiconductor physics or microelectronics. Posting specifies PhD +8 years' experience or Master’s +12 years' experience. Preferred background may include Device Engineering. No explicit "or equivalent" experience language was provided in the source text.
