Job Title

SMTS Analog Design Engineer

Role Summary

Design, develop, modify, and test analog and mixed-signal circuits and related hardware systems for AMD processors and ASIC products. Work with verification, layout, and cross-functional teams to drive designs from specification to silicon and improve performance, speed, and power behavior.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” requires 4 years of relevant engineering experience in the role or equivalent (alternative education/experience combinations described below).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include hands-on analog/mixed-signal design, simulation, verification, and cross-team coordination.

  • Design and test analog and mixed-signal components and integrated circuits from specification to silicon.
  • Simulate, validate, and debug mixed-signal designs using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain ASIC design flows, scripts, and verification methodologies.
  • Analyze signal performance and technical data; propose design changes to meet performance targets.
  • Participate in multi-system projects focused on processor speed, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Create and document specifications and design modifications for analog/mixed-signal circuits.
  • Lead layout and design reviews to ensure deliverable quality and mitigate design risks.
  • Communicate progress and technical status to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in analog mixed-signal design from specification to silicon.
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces such as DDR, GDDR, HBM and high-speed SERDES.
  • Experience designing chips with multiple power domains.
  • Strong logic and circuit design skills.
  • Experience in Unix/Linux development environments.
  • Experience with electrostatic discharge (ESD) and latch-up design considerations for full-chip designs.
  • At least two (2) years experience with C, C++, or Python.
  • Experience with chip design flows and verification methodologies.

Education Requirements

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field (or foreign equivalent) is required. Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in those fields plus six (6) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the role. The posting references formal degrees and foreign equivalents and allows an alternate combination of education and experience.
