SMMU Senior Lead Design Verification Engineer
QualcommJob Title
SMMU Senior Lead Design Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead ownership of System Memory Management Unit (SMMU) design verification for next-generation SoCs used in smartphones, tablets and related products. Collaborate with architects, design, emulation, software, and performance teams to develop verification plans, close coverage, debug failures, and support post-silicon bring-up.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Role expects multiple years of hands-on design verification and silicon debug experience; see Education Requirements for the posting's stated minimum experience by degree.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include maintaining the verification environment and driving functional closure:
- Own DV testbench and associated collateral (checkers, trackers, scoreboards, assertions, functional coverage).
- Develop test plans and test cases to cover the design feature set and drive code/functional coverage closure.
- Work with system architects, RTL design, and emulation teams on failure analysis and debug.
- Investigate regression signatures, identify root causes and track bug fixes.
- Develop and deploy validation scripts/tools and automation to improve verification efficiency.
- Debug and root-cause post-silicon issues in collaboration with design, software and test teams.
- Coordinate with SoC-level performance modeling on latency and bandwidth analysis.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (degree and minimum years are listed under Education Requirements):
- Expertise in UVM and SystemVerilog for verification environment and testbench development.
- Experience building monitors, scoreboards, sequencers and complex verification components.
- Knowledge of ARM bus protocols (AXI, AHB, APB, CHI), virtual memory concepts, and SoC system architecture.
- Strong debugging, analytical and problem-solving skills; proven ability to debug regressions and silicon issues.
- Familiarity with validation and formal tools and scripting (examples: Certitude, VC Formal, Fishtail) and automation workflows.
- Post-silicon bring-up and HW-SW debug experience and exposure to silicon debug tool chains is a plus.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across a global design organization.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of hardware-engineering or related experience; OR Master's in those fields with 2+ years of relevant experience; OR PhD in those fields with 1+ year of relevant experience. The posting also accepts equivalent practical experience in lieu of the listed degrees.
