Blue OriginJob Title
SLD FPGA Verification Engineer III - Lunar Permanence
Role Summary
Participate in verification of FPGA-based avionics solutions for the Lunar Permanence business unit, focused on Blue Moon landers and related systems. Work with design engineers to develop requirements, perform formal and simulation-based verification, and execute on-target testing to meet high-reliability and certification objectives.
Experience Level
Mid-level (Engineer III). Typical guidance: 5+ years verifying FPGAs or ASICs.
Responsibilities
Deliver verification activities for FPGA IP, subsystems, and systems to satisfy functional and safety/certification goals.
- Perform requirements-based verification using SystemVerilog and UVM.
- Create comprehensive verification and validation plans covering functional and system-level verification.
- Develop IP/subsystem/system-level testbenches and tests to meet coverage targets.
- Write directed and constrained-random test cases and run regressions.
- Collect and analyze coverage matrices; write reports in support of certification to high DAL.
- Document verification plans, procedures, and results; review results against coverage goals.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and eligibility.
- 5+ years experience verifying FPGAs or ASICs.
- In-depth experience with RTL simulation tools (e.g., Siemens QuestaSim, ModelSim) and RTL debug.
- Strong knowledge of SystemVerilog and the Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).
- Experience developing testbench environments and verification components (Monitor, Scoreboard, Driver, Agent) from scratch.
- Experience with functional coverage, coverage classes/points, assertions, and constrained-random verification.
- Experience with Register Abstraction Layer and generating coverage/verification reports.
- Proficient debugging skills to isolate issues between RTL design and testbench/test cases.
- Authorized to work in the United States: U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident (Green Card), or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee (per export control requirements).
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with AXI, PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, I2C interfaces.
- Experience debugging FPGA/ASIC hardware and supporting HW/SW integration.
- Experience managing regression/CI infrastructure (e.g., GitLab) and scripting for automation (Python, Perl, TCL/Shell).
- Working knowledge of NPR 7150.2, DO-254, or other safety-critical standards.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field (as stated in the posting).
