SiPh Yield Engineer - Electrical Characterization
Role Summary
Join the Silicon Photonics ramp as an Electrical Characterization Engineer supporting 300mm wafer manufacturing in Malta/Albany, NY. You will own wafer electrical test disposition, inline electrical and optical process control, and support New Product Introduction for high-volume silicon photonics production.
Primary mission: analyze electrical and optical test data, identify sources of variation, and implement controls to improve yield and device variability.
Experience Level
Entry-level / Early career (position described as "early career engineer"; typically 0–3 years experience).
Responsibilities
The role focuses on electrical characterization, production disposition, and process control to sustain and improve volume manufacturing.
- Characterize semiconductor devices and health-of-line (HOL) electrical test structures for volume production and material disposition.
- Review and analyze electrical test (ET), optical test (OT), HOL and inline SPC data; identify sources of variation and drive corrective actions.
- Support fab operations and respond to urgent manufacturing issues.
- Perform electrical analysis of controlled process changes to improve device performance, defectivity, and yield.
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams on electrical/optical targeting, trends, and Cpk/variability reporting.
- Support manufacturing ramp, cost-reduction efforts, and risk analysis for new products.
- Perform tasks in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.
Requirements
Must-have technical competencies and interpersonal skills.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting test data.
- Experience designing, executing, and analyzing experiments; familiarity with SPC and DOE is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Prior related internship or work experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of semiconductor processing, process integration, or Silicon Photonics is advantageous.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Circuit Design, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Preferred: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. No certifications or explicit equivalent-experience language stated.
