Silicon Validation Senior Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Silicon Validation Senior Engineer
Role Summary
Work on post-silicon validation and characterization of ASICs and IP (analog, mixed-signal, and high-speed digital interfaces). The role focuses on planning and executing silicon bring-up, hardware lab testing, debug, and collaboration with design, board, and ATE teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Experience guidance in the posting: 3 to 5 years.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include silicon validation, debugging, and cross-functional coordination.
- Plan and execute post-silicon validation and characterization for IP/SoC blocks, including high-speed interfaces (DDR PHY, SerDes).
- Develop and run lab test plans; perform hardware bring-up and debug using lab instruments and ATE.
- Isolate failures, reproduce issues, and work with design, board, and test teams to define corrective actions.
- Analyze signal integrity, timing, and equalization behavior; interpret measurement data and report results.
- Create validation documentation, test reports, and handover materials for silicon releases.
Requirements
Summary of must-have and desirable skills and experience.
- Must-have: Approximately 3+ years of ASIC/SoC validation, verification, integration, or related experience; strong understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuits and high-speed links (DDR PHY and/or SerDes).
- Must-have: Hands-on lab experience with high-speed digital circuits, system bring-up, and hardware debug.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Tx/Rx equalization techniques (de-emphasis, CTLE, DFE), memory interfaces, and DDR protocols.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with ATE, board-level bring-up, and lab characterization workflows.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field with at least 2 years of ASIC design/verification/validation experience; OR a Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field with at least 1 year of relevant experience; OR a PhD in a related field. (These degree options are the qualifications listed in the posting.)
