Job Title

Silicon Validation Lead / Principal Engineer

Role Summary

Lead silicon validation for SerDes IP and system-level connectivity within the Enterprise SerDes R&D team. Drive hardware bring-up, sim-to-silicon correlation, and cross-functional coordination to ensure IP meets performance and reliability targets.

Work emphasizes lab validation, debug, root-cause analysis, firmware integration, and providing actionable feedback to architects and product owners.

Experience Level

Senior - requires 10+ years of experience in silicon validation, high-speed interfaces, and system-level performance analysis.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities:

  • Lead silicon validation of IP functionality and performance, ensuring alignment with architectural intent.
  • Plan and execute hardware bring-up and early product characterization in the lab.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement workarounds or fixes for silicon issues.
  • Manage validation efforts in parallel with characterization and customer evaluation activities.
  • Validate sim-to-silicon performance for algorithms, impairments, and key metrics (for example, AFE curves).
  • Provide feedback to system and platform teams for hardware-correlated models and performance tuning.
  • Develop and refine SerDes algorithms and configurations to address performance gaps.
  • Review firmware regression tests for repeatability, drift, and robustness; support firmware integration.
  • Support customer bring-up and drive resolution of silicon debug issues; communicate findings to architects and product owners.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in silicon validation, high-speed interfaces, and system-level performance analysis.
  • Expertise in SerDes design and validation, including PCIe and Ethernet protocols.
  • Strong knowledge of signal integrity, equalization, coding, and CDR architectures.
  • Hands-on lab validation and debug tool experience with proven sim-to-silicon correlation skills.
