Job Title
Silicon Validation Engineer, Infra Silicon
Role Summary
Meta's Infrastructure Silicon team designs and deploys custom ASICs and SoCs for data center compute, networking, and storage. The Silicon Validation Engineer will lead end-to-end validation strategy, silicon bring-up, characterization, and production qualification for infrastructure chips.
The role focuses on defining validation architecture, building automated test infrastructure, correlating pre- and post-silicon results, and improving testability and reliability at scale.
Experience Level
Senior level β requires 12+ years of experience in post-silicon validation, silicon bring-up, or hardware characterization of custom ASICs/SoCs.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning validation strategy, bringing up first silicon, and establishing scalable test and characterization programs.
- Define and own end-to-end silicon validation strategy from pre-silicon correlation through production qualification.
- Lead first-pass silicon bring-up: power sequencing, clock/reset verification, and early functional debug.
- Architect automated test infrastructure for functional validation, performance benchmarking, and reliability screening in lab and data-center environments.
- Drive correlation between pre-silicon simulation models and post-silicon measurements to close coverage gaps.
- Establish characterization programs for voltage-frequency optimization, thermal profiling, and margin analysis to set production operating points.
- Partner with RTL, physical design, and firmware teams to define testability, debug interfaces, and built-in self-test strategies.
- Lead root-cause analysis of silicon failures using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG, and scan infrastructure; drive corrective actions.
- Define and track validation milestones, risk assessments, and readiness criteria for tape-out, bring-up, and production release gates.
- Develop and publish validation methodologies and reusable frameworks; provide technical leadership and mentorship across programs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
- 12+ years post-silicon validation, silicon bring-up, or hardware characterization of custom ASICs/SoCs.
- Proven experience defining and executing validation strategies across the full silicon lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of digital design fundamentals: RTL, timing analysis, clock domain crossing, and power delivery for post-silicon debug.
- Experience developing automated test frameworks and validation infrastructure for high-volume silicon screening.
- Proficiency in software/firmware development (Python, C/C++).
- Experience leading cross-functional technical programs with demonstrated organizational impact.
-
Nice-to-have: track record of methodology improvements that reduced time-to-production or improved yield.
-
Nice-to-have: experience with hyperscale data center silicon (compute accelerators, network ASICs, storage controllers).
-
Nice-to-have: experience with design-for-test (scan, BIST, JTAG) and high-speed interface validation (PCIe, Ethernet, HBM, DDR).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
