Silicon Validation and Characterization Engineer

Role Summary

Hands-on validation engineer responsible for post-silicon bring-up and characterization of advanced analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits. The role bridges design and production by executing bench validation, developing characterization plans, and delivering verified results to design, systems, and test teams.

Position is part of the Dallas engineering team and focuses on ensuring silicon meets functional, electrical, and performance specifications.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical experience: 5+ years in silicon IC validation.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing post-silicon validation and delivering results to stakeholders.

  • Lead bench validation activities for silicon ICs during product development.
  • Develop and execute detailed post-silicon characterization plans in collaboration with design, systems, and test teams.
  • Design and develop validation board schematics and layouts.
  • Create and automate bench setups to streamline characterization and validation.
  • Perform system-level and parametric tests on the bench.
  • Debug device and setup issues and drive issues to closure independently.
  • Prepare and publish detailed result reports for stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; listed concisely.

  • 5+ years of experience in validation of silicon ICs.
  • Hands-on experience with bench automation languages, especially Python; familiarity with LabVIEW and TestStand.
  • Extensive experience with laboratory bench equipment and automated bench setups; experience with generic embedded platforms (Arduino, Raspberry Pi).
  • Good understanding of PCB design for power products; hands-on PCB hardware design and layout experience (KiCAD, Altium).
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Spotfire.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with power devices (DC-DC converters, Efuse, etc.).

Education Requirements
