Silicon Test Engineer, Senior
QualcommJob Title
Silicon Test Engineer, Senior
Role Summary
Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering team responsible for design validation, characterization, and production deployment of IPs for 5G products in advanced FinFET processes. Work cross-functionally with IC Design, Software, Systems and Operations to enable high-volume manufacturability.
Experience Level
Senior. The role expects experienced hardware/test engineers; hiring guidelines indicate roughly 2+ years of hardware engineering or related experience (see Education Requirements for degree-equivalency options).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, operate, and debug automated test equipment (ATE) for validation and production testing.
- Develop test hardware and software, including ATE programs and lab automation.
- Characterize silicon across process, voltage, temperature corners and execute failure debug.
- Release cost-effective production test solutions and production test flows for mass manufacturing.
- Collaborate with IC design, firmware, systems and operations to resolve issues and enable manufacturability.
- Analyze test data and produce test plans, reports, and recommendations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 2+ years of hardware engineering, product development, test validation, or high-volume production experience (see Education Requirements for degree/equivalency details).
- Experience operating Automated Test Equipment (Advantest, Teradyne or similar) and using bench measurement instruments (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, logic analyzer).
- Hands-on experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools and practical lab debugging skills.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming for test and data analysis (Python, C++, or equivalent).
- Ability to develop and debug test hardware and embedded/test software.
- Strong data-analysis skills and familiarity with test-data workflows.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with DFT/ATPG, JTAG, memory BIST and structural tests.
- Domain knowledge in CPU, memory interfaces (SRAM/DRAM), high-speed SerDes, sensor validation, RF and mixed-signal circuits (ADC, DAC, PLL, LDO, LNA).
- Experience with data-analysis platforms (Exensio, JMP, National Instruments) and measurement/test frameworks.
- Familiarity with ARM, microcontroller architecture, and embedded assembly.
Physical expectations: frequent use of test equipment and computers; occasional transport and installation of light equipment.
Education Requirements
The posting specifies degree-based options: Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related engineering fields. Acceptable combinations include Bachelor's + 2+ years of hardware engineering experience, Master's + 1+ year, or a PhD. Equivalent practical experience is implicitly accepted through these degree/experience alternatives.
