Job Title

Silicon Test Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering team responsible for design validation, characterization, and enabling high-volume manufacturability of SoC products in advanced FinFET process technologies.

The role focuses on ATE operation and debug, test hardware and software development, silicon characterization across process/voltage/temperature corners, and releasing cost-effective production test solutions.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” typically 1–4 years of relevant product development, test validation, or production testing experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include silicon bring-up, validation, and production test delivery.

  • Operate and program Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to validate and debug new silicon.
  • Develop test hardware and software for characterization and production testing.
  • Perform silicon characterization across process, voltage, and temperature corners.
  • Design and release cost-effective production test solutions for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with IC Design, Software, Systems and Operations teams to resolve issues and improve testability.
  • Use oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, logic/network analyzers and other measurement instruments for measurements and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze test data and produce reports to drive yield and quality improvements.
  • Support installation, transport, and setup of test equipment as required for lab and production environments.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items follow.

  • Experience with product development, test validation, and production testing for SoC or semiconductor products (β‰₯1 year preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with ATE and test program development; familiarity with Advantest or Teradyne is a plus.
  • Practical experience using measurement and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, logic analyzers, network analyzers).
  • Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools (typically 2+ years).
  • Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or embedded software for test automation and data processing.
  • Strong debugging skills for hardware and software integration on test platforms.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and use data-analysis tools to drive test and yield decisions.
  • Effective cross-functional communication and documentation skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with digital/analog/RF circuit design, DFT (Scan/ATPG, JTAG, memory BIST), CPU/logic test, memory interfaces, or high-speed SerDes.
  • Familiarity with CMOS analog and mixed-signal blocks (ADC, DAC, PLL, LDO, LNA, mixers, PAs) and their measurements.
  • Experience with tools such as JMP, National Instruments software, or Exensio for data analysis.
  • Experience with ARM, microcontroller platforms, or embedded system validation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or related fields is preferred.
