Job Title
Silicon Test Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Product Development and Test Engineering team responsible for design validation, characterization, and production deployment of advanced SoC IPs for 5G products on FinFET processes. The role focuses on enabling high-volume manufacturability through test development, validation, and production support.
Experience Level
Mid-level; typically requires 1β3+ years of relevant product development, test validation, or production test experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include validating new products, debugging failures, and delivering scalable production test solutions.
- Operate automated test equipment (ATE) to validate and debug device functionality.
- Develop test hardware and software for device characterization and production testing.
- Characterize devices across process, voltage and temperature corners and document results.
- Release cost-effective production test programs for high-volume manufacturing.
- Collaborate with IC Design, Software, Systems and Operations engineering to resolve issues and improve testability.
- Analyze test data to identify failure modes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain test infrastructure, test plans, and production documentation.
Requirements
Key technical skills and experience (must-have vs. nice-to-have indicated where possible).
-
Must-have: Experience operating ATE and common measurement equipment (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, logic analyzer, network analyzer).
-
Must-have: Experience in product development, test validation, and high-volume production activities related to SoC (mobile, compute, data center, automotive, or IoT) β typically >1 year.
-
Must-have: Hands-on experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools (posting notes 2+ years of use).
-
Must-have: Familiarity with VLSI technologies: digital design, CPU architecture/organization, and basic semiconductor process concepts.
-
Must-have: Proficiency with scripting or programming for test and automation (Python, C++, embedded languages).
-
Nice-to-have: Domain knowledge in CPU, logic test (ATPG), memory (SRAM, DRAM interfaces), high-speed SerDes, or sensor validation.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with CMOS analog/mixed-signal blocks (ADC, DAC, PLL, LDO, RF components) and their measurements.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with data analysis tools (JMP, National Instruments, Exensio) and ATE vendors (Advantest, Teradyne).
-
Other: Ability to perform physical tasks associated with lab/test work: transporting/installing equipment, prolonged use of test stations, and clear verbal/written communication.
Education Requirements
Preferred: Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or related field. The posting does not specify a mandatory bachelors or PhD requirement; equivalent practical experience is implicitly relevant based on experience-focused qualifications.
