Silicon Product Engineer
AppleJob Title
Silicon Product Engineer
Role Summary
Coordinate cross-functional engineering teams to validate and compute optimal operating voltages and characterize power and performance for SoCs. Drive statistical analysis of test data, define characterization and correlation plans, and sign off on silicon characterization activities that inform test, validation, and production screening.
Work includes data processing with JMP Pro, developing test plans and ATE/benchmarks, and collaborating with design, validation, test, manufacturing, system test, and software teams. Base pay range: $149,987–$218,000/year.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical experience: 3–7 years (not explicitly stated in posting).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate with design, validation, test, manufacturing, ATE, and software teams to define and execute silicon characterization and test plans.
- Validate and compute optimal operating voltages for SoCs; analyze Vmin, power, temperature and aging effects.
- Process and analyze test data using JMP Pro (statistical analysis and plotting); drive correlation and data reviews.
- Develop case tests, benchmarks, and production screening guard bands; characterize test setups and correlate to ATE.
- Perform measurements that impact SoC power and performance; identify issues and implement corrective actions.
- Manage multiple programs at different stages and act as central point of contact across teams.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills:
- Strong technical understanding of electrical engineering and semiconductor concepts (Vmin, power, temperature, aging).
- Experience with data exploration, statistical analysis, and summarization.
- SRAM/memory design, test, and characterization fundamentals.
- Logic design and testing, including state machines and processor building blocks.
- Fundamentals of PDN, signal/power integrity and their impact on Vmin/LVCC.
- Programming/scripting experience (Python, Perl, JSL, or similar).
- Low-pass filter design; circuit schematic and layout design.
- Micro- and nano-fabrication technology knowledge; experience with PERC (Programmable Electrical Rules Check).
Education Requirements
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
